Hello. I hope you enjoy reading my profile and are inspired to reach out! Alongside my performing career as a classically trained tenor, I have been teaching voice for the past 20 years. I attended The Boston Conservatory and am a graduate of Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. My performance career enabled me to perform in Europe and across the United States in such halls as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, The Town Hall, NYC and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. I have extensive experience in Opera, Oratorio, Musical Theater, Zarzuela and Popular music. In our lessons we will focus on your individual gifts...together we will enhance the innate ability you posses with your singing. My teaching is based on the great Bel Canto tradition that masters like Garcia and Lamperti set forth. It all starts with an understanding of proper diaphragmatic breathing and establishing a true legato in your singing. Always remember that quality towers over quantity. Let's enjoy the process!

I began taking lessons with Luis when I was 12 years old. I had a background of vocal health issues and had already been diagnosed with vocal nodules at the time. He was able to teach me proper singing and breathing technique, that transformed my voice. I continued to train with Luis all through middle school and high school, where he provided me with several songs for my repertoire and coached me for successful auditions for school shows, community theaters, and well known summer conservatories through Paper Mill Playhouse and NJPAC. I went on to study Musical Theatre Performance in college and credit Luis with providing me with such a strong vocal foundation. Additionally, Luis is an incredible and genuine human being. He truly cares about his students and continues to check up on myself and my family to this day.

I highly recommend Luis as a voice coach. My daughter has been working with Luis for 6 years and he is excellent. Her voice has grown and matured in ways that would not have been possible without him. He is patient and kind, can teach a variety of music styles, music reading if desired, and breathing techniques. He brings out the best in his students and encourages them to grow and expand their abilities.

Luis is an amazing instructor. He helped my daughter get parts in plays. He gave her the confidence to make a few music videos. He is a genuine person and truly believes in helping students find their “voice”. I would highly recommend him to your company.

    Experience

    Voice Teacher

    Jul, 1999 - Dec, 2001

Boys and Girls Harbor Conservatory in NYC

Throughout my performing career I was fortunate enough to work with wonderful and inspiring musical talents such as Licia Albanese and Martina Arroyo, just to name a few. I was able to sing nationally and internationally, performing leading roles in Opera, Concerts, Oratorio, Zarzuela and Musical Theater..... My teaching career started in NYC at The Boys and Girls Harbor Conservatory and there I taught many singers with interests in pop, jazz, musical theater and salsa....many of them went on to professional careers in the music industry....most notably, a wonderful singer and actress, Michelle Dorant, spent six years working at THE LION KING on Broadway! Since then, I have helped students enter prestigious musical conservatories, win competitions and prepare for upcoming auditions. The process of learning how to sing and building a technique takes dedication and patience. I enjoy helping my students meet their potential and eventually see their dreams come true.
