About Lucas L.
I attended The School for film and Televisions 2 year Meisner program for actors, Stella Adlers 2 year conservatory program for actors. 4 years as undergrad at Julliard for vocal performance and vocal pedagogy in opera. 2 years working with Manahattan School of music vocal pedagogy program. Continuos study with Patrick Michael Whickam at Whickam studios for instruction in vocal pedagogy. 2 years with Larry Conroy ( NYC) for study of voice over technique and advanced IPA. My lessons are based around the students goals and interests. For voice students I work as both a voice teacher and vocal coach. I work using the Alexander technique for posture and explanation of support. We focus initially on abdominal support, then side breathing then back breathing. I teach about the physiology of the voice: Larynx, pharynx, tongue, jaw, epigastrium, breath mechanism, passive structure, and active structure. I work with both solfeggio and classic site reading. I run through warm up techniques, breathing, vocal ease etc. for the start of lessons working both on and off voice. Then through a selected piece of music breaking down the vowels, breath marks. phrasing etc then through emoting and finally performance of the piece. I teach out of my own recording studio so all lessons are professionally recorded and given to students on cd for home study.
I have a lot of fun with my students and do things to ensure each lesson is both fun and educational. I tell each student when they come in that they will make 1 hundred thousands of the best sounds they will ever make as long as they are willing to make 1 million of the worst sounds they have ever made!
I also have a number of other teachers I work with including Doctor Frank Dibussolo, an 8 time Grammy nominated guitar player and composer and advanced guitar teacher, advanced music theory teacher, advanced piano teacher and performance coach
