My name is Luba!

I have been teaching Piano to students of beginning and intermediate levels for more than 20 years. I encourage students to develop creativity, expression and a thirst for learning. Students are taught to excel in sight reading, rhythm mastering and a piece polishing utilizing dynamics.
Playing a piano piece is similar to searching for a treasure where you need to follow a map ( printed music) . Following your map very closely you are able to discover the real treasure - beautiful performance of the piece!
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of St. Catherine ( St Paul, MN) and Bachelor of Science from Pedagogical Institute Moscow, Russia).
At St. Kates I studied music performance with Dr Arline Goter and my focus was on the music of Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern periods.
I work closely with my students to develop a custom curriculum that focuses first on the needs of the student. I am very patient with my students, I make sure to pace each student at their individual level. I am convinced the study of piano playing also teaches students to be confident in themselves and maybe very encouraging for the shy performer! Practice makes perfect!
My studio is located in Hugo, Minnesota and open to anyone who has the passion to learn.

About Luba R.

I have been teaching piano for 20+ years but my musical adventure started when I was 5 years old. First private lessons, then music school with study of the piano performance, music theory, choir, music literature and history , music ensemble.
I received a kindergarten music teacher certificate while finishing high school .
During my studies at the St Catherine University I had to give 2 personal recitals in my junior and senior years. I played works of Scarlatti, Mozart, Kabalevsky, Schumann, Beethoven and Gershwin.
I am comfortable teaching young kids as well as adults.
I want to understand learning style of my students and create a special approach for each of my students. Everyone can learn!

Our first lesson for my daughter was a very positive experience! Luba was very patient and walked her through proper posture, hand position and rhythm. My daughter was very excited to do it again. Great teacher!
