Hello! My name is Lowell, and I am a bassist. The bass is one of the most important instruments in music today. It serves an integral role in almost every genre of music. As such, I believe in developing my students to be complete bassists, versatile and comfortable in many different styles and genres of music. However, if the student wishes to focus on a specific genre, that is certainly acceptable. My lessons are highly personalized, and will allow the student to pursue their musical passions.
My credentials: I have been studying the upright and electric basses for the last 11 years. I received a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Miami Frost School of Music in 2016. When I graduated, I was offered the opportunity to pursue my Masters in Music as the Jazz Bass Graduate Teaching Assistant. I am pursuing my Master's Degree in Jazz Pedagogy, or Jazz Education, so know that I am very passionate about teaching.
At UM, I teach private bass students, as well as jazz history and jazz pedagogy. In the past, I have taught jazz improvisation and jazz theory.
