As the son of a professional pianist from New Orleans, I was born and raised in a musical household. I began playing drums at age 6 and gradually began writing my own music on piano and guitar. I studied Jazz Performance at VCU, where I earned a B.A. in Jazz Drum Set & Piano Performance. After college, I spent 7 years performing, recording and touring in Austin, TX. In 2007 I started taking private music students and began teaching other subjects in public & private schools. My wife and I moved to Durham in 2011. *** Lesson Details *** I like to let the student guide the lesson. Tell me where you are and where you'd like to be, and I'll offer my unique experience to help set long-term goals. Over the course of our lessons we will break those long-term goals down into achievable short-term goals and create your musical path forward. Every student is different, and I never teach the same lesson twice. I strive to inspire and support my students to develop a lifelong relationship with the music they love. *** Studio Equipment *** Dedicated Music Room: amps, guitars, drum set, keyboards, music stands, music library. Parents can sit in on lesson. *** Specialties *** My degree in Music Performance helps me teach a wide variety of styles, including rock, blues, funk, country, classical, jazz, bluegrass and pop. My specialties include working with young students (age 4+) as well as adult beginners (I've had students in their 70's and 80's).

First lesson was good but that was it I was disappointed. Started well but not much progress from there. Did not seem have a plan to teach and develop me. Seemed unprepared most of the time and we did what sort of came up. He might be OK for a total novice but not a good match for me.
Short but at the same time comprehensive lessons Louis is first off, very easy and comfortable to be around. He has gentle yet professional demeanor and goes right into the lesson without wasting time which is short with half an hour lessons. He is patient and for someone who cannot carry a tune, has been hopeful and encouraging teacher. I would recommend anyone who is basically self conscious, for a great learning experience.
