Thank you for your interest in lessons! I tutor Algebra, Flute and Psychology. I have been tutoring in Algebra for over 9 years because it's fun for me, which I know is hard to believe! I like to help students to really understand the concepts they need to know for future endeavors or to at least get through class. I offer homework help for students or general help for people who need to brush up on certain concepts. Additionally, I like giving flute lessons because I have received lessons in the past and I know how helpful and motivating they are. Lessons help you to outline what your goals are for playing. Plus, you have someone to critique your playing and give you correct instruction in areas where you are weak. I majored in psychology and love learning all about it. The schools of thought and how our brain learns and works is fascinating to me. I hope you will feel the same way after learning about the subject. Experience: I have an Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho. I started as a major in music education and math education, and decided they were not for me because I preferred tutoring, instead of teaching a lot of students at once. I couldn't stand leaving a student behind to struggle on their own and possibly give up on something due to time constraints or not understanding how something was taught. I prefer to work with students one on one or in small groups, so they receive individualized attention. I like to tailor my lessons to each student and really focus on what they need help with to build a solid foundation for the next stepping stone in their education, whether it's Algebra or Flute. I have tutored in math for over 9 years. Most of that is 9 years solid, but I started with part time here and there as a middle school student. I also started teaching flute lessons as a high school student to beginning middle school students at the request of my band teacher. I truly believe if you set your mind to learn something, you can.
