I teach piano from the perspective of a modern musician and songwriter. I want to make sure you are relaxed and having fun in our lessons and pursuing the style of music that resonates with you. While I do like to use traditional method books to teach note reading and theory at a gradual pace, I also like to break away from the classical and spend some time on the music you know and love from the radio. Through teaching chords and accompaniment styles, I can help you to quickly learn the songs you love without needing to read sheet music, empowering you to start playing on your own while we work our way through note reading and more difficult pieces together. Ultimately, if you goal is strictly classical or strictly to sing and play, we can shift our focus to give more time to the area that you are passionate about.
