Awesome classical guitar lessons in a beautiful studio near Downtown Sacramento

Learn guitar with published author Lisa Frimberger in a beautiful music studio located near downtown Sacramento! I teach beginner guitar and specialize in classical fingerpicking style guitar. We will learn basic chords and strumming patterns as well. I also like to analyze the fretboard notes and relationships, and playing different scales across the guitar. I love to just invent different fingerpicking patterns and spice them up using chord embellishments. This is very fun for learning, as you can easily use this technique to create your own beautiful improvised music. Along with improvising fingerpicking within chords and scales, I like to teach different classical style songs. Favorite fingerpicking songs to teach: - Spanish Romance - Leyenda - Greensleeves - Scarborough Fair - Malagueña - Country Dance - Canario - Blackbird I mainly use tabs for learning but I also like to teach some basics of reading music for the guitar for songs such as: - Ode to Joy - Mary Had a Little Lamb - Other nursery rhymes (can be very pretty when played as fingerpicking within chords)

    About Lisa F.

Hi! My name is Lisa Frimberger and I am the music teacher at Play/Music Sacramento and author of two unique new music lessons books. I love learning and teaching music and music theory! Teaching beginners is one of my specialties - kids or adults - I love being able to teach someone a new skill! There's so much I want to say that it's hard to put it all into words! I teach traditional style piano lessons but in very unique ways. I use my own two published books - one piano songbook and a music theory book for older students. The piano songbook takes 10 traditional nursery rhymes and puts them into the minor key for a scary version (which everyone loves!). It also includes lots of other fun songs for learning about music theory; as well as some really special original compositions that are used to help start learning patterns for improvising and composing one's own music. I also have my own set of instructional materials that I've made but have yet to publish that will go in a separate binder. Besides the music in the books I have lots of other great sheet music that I have collected over the years, as well as new songs I've composed using patterns and music theory. Lessons with me are super fun (one of my rules is no laughing! but it's mostly a joke:), yet also very technical and thorough. I love to have fun and make jokes, but I love learning most of all, so if the student is not trying to learn that is when I don't joke as much. FLASHCARDS I am a big fan of flashcards! I have lots of them, some I've bought and others I made myself. I love turning rote memorization into a fun game to break up the lesson, and keep things fun during long lessons. THE TREASURE REWARDS PROGRAM The Treasure Rewards Program is a way to make kids LOVE their music lessons! Kids earn gold coins and diamonds during lessons and save them up in a treasure box (which are all stored in the piano bench). Then at certain times the student is allowed to cash in their earned treasure for different prizes from in the treasure rewards chest. RHYTHM & THE MUSICOLOR METHOD I like to use these super awesome removable keyboard labels to label specific sets of keys all over the whole piano, and then use rhythm flashcards and chord patterns to start improvising. Using this method improvising can be done at a very age, and it's just as fun and useful for adult learning too! EXPERIENCE: I have been teaching piano for 10 years and have had a huge array of students of all different ages and backgrounds. I accept students ages 3+. I have taught everywhere from age 3 to over 60. I also have some experience with teaching children with autism.
