Sign Language with Lisa D.

I have been signing for most of my life. Growing up I lived in an area with many deaf children and so as a result I learned sign language. As an adult I went through a 2 year Interpreter Training Program. I then became a certified Interpreter in the state of Michigan. When my husband and I moved to Portland, OR I shifted my focus to teaching ASL. I have taught students of differing levels and age ranges and can easily adapt to your skill level and reasons for learning the language. I am also able to teach you about deaf history, culture, interpreting and ASL Linguistics if you are interested. I'm passionate about teaching and learning languages. I am currently learning 2 languages on my own. I know what it is like to learn a new language as an adult and I have learned many great ways of harnessing the knowledge that we have as adults, about ourselves and learning in general, to make learning ASL easier and more enjoyable for my students.
