I have 10+ years of experience working with children of all ages in a wide variety of settings. I taught as a pre-K-12 substitute teacher for 2 years; a 3rd-5th grade English literacy skills instructor for 2 years; a licensed child care provider for 8 years; and most recently, I have been teaching online ESL classes for VIPKid. I completed a 20-hour TESOL-VIPKid Advanced Program for Teaching English Online certification through TESOL International and VIPKid. To date, I have taught 250+ online ESL classes!
I also have a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a master's degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Helping children grow, develop, and learn in a healthy, fun, supportive environment is my passion! I love to see kids make connections, gain confidence, and advance their skills through fun and engaging interaction.
Lindsay helped both of my school age children not only increase their literacy but also their confidence and joy in reading. She really understands children and strives to help them find reading material that is relevant and enjoyable for the kids. She is a wonderful teacher and has so much patience, these are such important characteristics for teaching! Thank you!!+ Read More
Lindsay provided tutoring services at our school for students who were behind in reading and math. I can't speak high enough about Lindsay! She thoroughly assessed students to determine what their learning needs included, designed well-written lessons to successfully meet students needs and keep them progressing, and gathered motivating and relevant resources for student learning. She not only took time to carefully examine the resources we provided at our school, but she also researched other materials online, and even wrote grants to provide for the funding of these supplemental materials! Lindsay quickly formed close connections with her students and they truly enjoyed their tutoring times with her. She was able to differentiate for students learning needs and interests, and figure out how to motivate them to continue to learn and do their best. Teachers also raved about Lindsay, not only for the excellent support she provided for their students, but also because of her outstanding communication skills. She closely communicated with teachers what she was working on with students, listened to suggestions and feedback from others, and provided ideas for other teachers and tutors when they also needed help. Lindsay is respectful, flexible, and motivated to identify in what areas students need support and figure out how to help them meet their goals.+ Read More
Lindsay did a wonderful job supporting my daughters with their reading fluency and comprehension. She has a very positive attitude as well as many engaging strategies to teach both phonetics and comprehension. But most importantly, she taught my daughters to love to read!!!+ Read More
