    About Linda U.

Currently I teach and tutor students in the following areas: piano, voice, choir, math and reading. I have experience working with all developmental levels of children and adults. I offer both individual and group lessons in music and in academics. Supportive and encouraging, I guide students step-by-step and provide a solid foundation in musicianship and technique so that students are empowered to explore any kind of music. Igniting the imagination of students and providing them with the practical tools to realize their highest potential is the basis of my teaching My interest in music and performing arts spans a period of over 20 years with taking piano lessons, creative dramatics classes, dance as a very young child. I was very engaged with every aspect of performance. Currently I sing with the Northwest Repertory Singers which performs throughout the Puget Sound area. As a master teacher, I use music and art to stimulate student interest in their core subjects and have numerous methods in which to access student progress and to stimulate learning. For teaching piano, I use the Mayron Cole Piano method which starts with learning rhythm, then keyboard notes, followed by staff notes. Each of the 3 steps is repeated in fun and engaging ways until the student feels comfortable. We encourage group/ensemble based learning, where each student learns and plays a different part, however simple, to help keep students engaged. Board games, movement and singing are also used to help reinforce music theory concepts. I teach individual and group piano lessons in my studio, and will travel to a students home, a community center, or to a school, to accommodate a student's schedule.
