I have been a public school music teacher for 30+ years. I am an optimistic, enthusiastic person, who will help you learn music reading in addition to music playing. I started on piano as a young child, and studied clarinet from elementary school through college, where I focused on french horn. I have a BA in Music Education from Humboldt State University, where I also earned my teaching credential. I have taught beginning, intermediate and advanced band and orchestra, in addition to choir and jazz band. I have been music director for over 10 middle school musicals. In my spare time I enjoy my two dogs, going horseback riding, and reading.
*** Lesson Details ***
I am very friendly, and encouraging to new students. I have a lot of patience for those who are new to the study of music. I can also be more demanding for those who have learned the basics and want to improve their playing. I am a proponent of teaching the basics of music reading and common musical terms. I can teach music through a variety of curricula, and will work with my students to choose a method that best suits their goals. I have a large music studio in my home that has a separate entrance, which is conducive to music making (with it's own bathroom). I accept students 8 years of age and older.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Has a keyboard, but no drum set
*** Travel Equipment ***
I prefer to teach in my home studio.

very comfortable and satisfying first lesson.
Linda was great! As an adult beginner with the cello she made the lesson enjoyable and easy to follow. She adjusted quickly for where I knew a little and where I knew nothing. Highly recommend her!
Friendly and great with my teenage son
I didn't know what to expect. Linda was fantastic. I'm a beginner sax player and she worked with me to get my sounds correct. She has the right attitude for a teacher and I felt good after my lesson. I'm looking forward to my next lessons
I and my son come to the studio in the morning. It has lightened with ceiling skylight and the teacher already prepares for the lesson with music instrument and book stand, etc. Her personality is nice and joyful, and as she instructs my son first lesson for flute beginner fast but thoroughly, I found her the best teacher.+ Read More
It was a great first-lesson experience!
First lesson went great! She was very nice and positive!
Linda was very understanding of our special needs for our daughter of which one was flexibility. Technically, she met daughter's needs from the start and made the
lesson challenging and fun.
Our son had his first lesson today. Linda was patient and encouraging. She was knowledgeable and we were pleased to see her play her trumpet along with our son and model for him how to hold the trumpet and play properly.
I have absolutely been delighted with my teacher Linda. At almost 50 years old, I was apprehensive about learning to play a new instrument, but she is so welcoming and encouraging. I have been taking lesson since the summer, and I look forward to seeing her every week. Even if I don't get in as much practice as I would like, She is understanding of life's commitments and never makes me feel bad. And despite my MANY questions, she takes the time to explain in detail so I can understand and incorporate the lesson in my playing. I never feel rushed during my lesson and can't wait to surprise her the next week to show her how much I've learned..+ Read More
Linda has been a wonderful teacher for my daughter as she learns the french horn. She is very kind and encouraging and gives great specific tips and suggestions. We love her!
Linda is most encouraging! I'm not the best of students but each lesson, she acknowledges even the slightest improvements, which this old gal appreciates.
Thanks for being so patient with me. Not only are you a great teacher but a great encourager. I'm so pleased to have you as my teacher. I'm learning so much from you.
Linda is a very skilled teacher. She is exceeding our expectations. Very happy to have her teach our daughter.
Linda has been great with my son in the lessons. She is patient and encouraging and always compliments him on things which he is doing well. He always looks forward to his lessons.
Linda has been wonderful! She's very friendly and inviting! My daughter is very shy and quiet, but has been loving taking lessons with Linda! Linda always puts in updates online after each lesson, which is very helpful.
Hight intelligent, mucically gifted, very patient with her student kids, I think you are lucky to have her on your books.
Linda teaches band at 5+ schools and orchestra too. She was patient and insightful for my three violin lessons. If I were intermediate-advanced skilled in Violin, I might look elsewhere but for beginning to intermediate she is excellent. Her private music room was conducive to learning, she had helpful tips and observations on what I could do better or what I was doing wrong. And she always gave timely feedback on the website right after. The biggest reason I stopped was because she's an hour away from where I live.
LInda is a wonderful teacher. She has infinite patience and gives gentle feedback. She also expects her students to show improvement and she knows if you slack off. I really enjoy my weekly lessons with Linda - I learn a lot and we have fun playing our saxophones together.+ Read More
