With a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, I have taught basic engineering at UC-Berkeley as a graduate student. Materials Science requires strong math and algebra background. I also taught basic engineering in the Gifted Youth Program at Stanford University. I have been teaching Data Visualization online at the University of New Mexico. In this class, I pioneered the methods of using art as a visualization tool to teach students math, which I believe it can be easily applied to students at all ages.

My Tutoring Style:

I come up with a lesson plan catering for each student's need. In the first few lessons, I will introduce you the basic concepts required to the subject. In the next few lessons, you will be able to gasp the subjects by practicing example questions under my guidance. Each example question is designed to cover a certain concept introduced in the first few lessons. The ultimate goal for you is to learn the concept that you can use it freely at anytime as it becomes your second nature.

I have helped more than 100 students to overcome the fear of math.

With a Ph.D. in materials engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, math and algebra have always been my favorite subjects at school. I scored perfectly in GRE Quantitative and a 3.9 GPA in college math classes (calculus 1, 2, 3. Linear Algebra, Calculus AB, BC, Statistics).

With more than 10 years experiences (Online and face-to-face combined) in classroom teaching engineering, science, and art, I have been tutoring various math topics (from Middle School to College Calculus) online since 2015.

I am well organized and enjoy breaking down complex math problem into simple terms. I love working with students one-on-one. I find that when I have a chance to accommodate students' individual needs and learning styles, the experience becomes more productive and enjoyable for everyone involved. It brings me great joy and satisfaction when I see a light bulb goes off in a student's head.

I have a passion for math. For me, tutoring math, is not only helping students to excel in standardized tests, or gain good grade in a class, but also teaching students who want to learn math, the rule that governs our world, at an extremely thorough, in-depth level.

Linda has already made progress with my son. My son likes her whiteboard system and is happy to spend time with her. His confidence is going up and I can see that he is less stressed about his homework and AP Calculus. This has been a positive experience and is worth the cost. I appreciate the email updates on his progress.

Linda helped my daughter with the math session of SAT. My daughter was ready to throw in the towel and totally give up on the subject. After she had a few sessions with Linda, I saw my daughter's confidence in her ability to understand the work grow from session to session. Linda is very easy to work with as well as very communicative.

SSAT ·

I have always been struggling with the quantitative section in SSAT, and I could never grasp the meaning the questions. Linda had helped me understand what I'm better at and worked with me to improve on the things I struggle with. I even learned a few new strategies and how to tackle difficult questions. I would recommend her to the people that are struggling with anything related to math.

My daughter is struggling with word problems. She has no difficulty with reading in general, but has trouble translating the phrases into numbers. After a few sessions with Linda, she has been able to draw number sentences. Big thanks to Linda!
