In order to received this certificate, the interpreter must have either an Associates degree or a high school diploma and transcripts showing the completion of15 additional credits focused on the education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. In addition, the interpreter must have taken and passed both segments of the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) and received a rating of 3.0 or higher on the Performance segment. This qualifies the Educational Interpreter to work in school districts in New Jersey.
