About Leonard O.

I've been playing, teaching, and studying for over 30 years. I studied Jazz Guitar and bass under Curt Black, classical guitar under E. Chavez, Joseph Mayes (Bryn Mawr Conservatory), and Glenn Lyons (who studied under Aaron Shearer). That being said, I think that my best music education was, and is, performing in "real life situations". There's no substitute for the instant feedback from your audience: whether it be a large auditorium or a small family gathering. My student's, both young and older, all remark that my teaching style is informative, relaxed and fun. My main teaching philosophy is that you need to know how music works, not just learn a bunch of chords and scales. Someone once asked me how many chords I know. I said "all of them". That's because I know the theory behind building harmonies and can therefore construct the chords as needed. Most of all, music has to be fun. After all, there's a reason it's called "playing" *** Specialties *** Classical Guitar Jazz Guitar Bass (upright and Fender) Recording Gardening Philosophy
