I have been playing piano since the age of 8. A cum laude graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University with a degree in Piano Performance and Music Education. I have taught chorus, orchestra, piano and guitar for 6 years at the middle school level. I have also taught at various summer camps and for private piano and guitar students. I have been accompanying instrumentalists, vocalists and choirs since middle school at the middle, high, collegiate and professional level at competitions, weddings and public events.
I have volunteered, or been on staff as a church pianist since the age of 14 at various locations, also playing guitar, electric bass, singing and leading the church band.
I have performed with the Charlotte Symphony and the group Il Divo, including Lea Salonga for various concerts. I have also performed with the national tours of Wicked, Peter Pan, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, The Little Mermaid and The King and I.
Whenever I let someone know I am a musician, the most common response is, "I've always wanted to play," or "I wish my parents wouldn't have let me quit taking lessons." The process and discipline it takes to learn an instrument, is not easy by any means, but I've found that it will always be worth it and there is no wasted time when practicing music.
I hope to teach all my students skills that will last them for the rest of their life, whether you want to learn classical music or jam out on chord charts. I have enjoyed all avenues and styles that I have performed in and hope to pass on that passion to my students.
Along with piano I enjoy playing guitar, bass guitar, violin, ukulele and clarinet. If I am not playing an instrument or teaching, I am at my gym where I am a certified Krav Maga Level I instructor and a blue belt in Gracie Jiu- Jitsu, from Gracie Humaita.
