Hi! Thank you for checking out my profile! I'm a professional musical theatre teacher/coach/musical director/composer/lyricist/singer/actor currently living in Brooklyn, NY. I'm now accepting on-line students from anywhere in the world. In my 21 yrs as a teacher/coach/musical director, I've worked with kids of all ages both privately and with such reputable companies as TADA!, Brooklyn Children's Theatre, Neighborhood Playhouse and STEPS on Broadway, teaching students how to reach their full potential. I also work privately with teens and adults, from first timers to Broadway performers. I'm an award winning composer (Drammy Award for Best Original Music for UNDER THE INFLUENCE) and my PRIDE & PREJUDICE-the MUSICAL has been produced across the country and in Europe, as well as a Broadway star-studded concert at 54 Below in NYC. My songs have been performed/recorded by Broadway stars such as Laura Osnes, Ron Bohmer, Karen Mason, Abby Mueller, Margo Seibert, Teal Wicks and Nate Hackmann. I've twice been a Richard Rodgers Award finalist and my many children's musicals are performed regularly. I also wrote the music for the theme song for the Empire State Winter Games as well as many cabaret songs, art songs and choral music. As a performer, I was a full time member of the San Francisco Opera chorus and have performed roles in many musicals and operas, as well as being a member of the famous show choir, the Young Americans and the Grammy winning Gregg Smith Singers. Most musical theater coaches are primarily pianists and don't have a background in voice, acting or performing. As you can see, I have a background working professionally in all areas of musical theater. Thank you again for visiting my profile! I look forward to hearing from you!

Lawrence is a great coach for musical theater singing. When I was in the 5th grade I had an audition for this school called ppas, which is a preforming arts school. I love musical theater and I was taking lessons in neighborhood playhouse. Lawrence was one of the vocal coaches there so my mom got him as a private coach. He was really helpful in teaching me how to sing, he picked a really good song for me and he helped me a lot. I got into the school, and I probably wouldn't have if it weren't for him. We also got him as a coach for my laguardia audition, and although my voice had changed a lot he helped pick the right song and we worked on it. He helped me get in there as well. Would defininetly reccomend.

My daughter has been taking Musical Theater with Lawrence for 7 years now. Lily has grown as a performer under his instruction. Lily describes his classes as fun, fun and fun. Lawrence is an exceptional teacher who provides his students with a supportive and collaborative environment and where he nurtures their creativity. His love of Musical Theater definitely shines through in his classes. He's great!

Lawrence Rush is an inspiring and gifted teacher. My daughter took her first musical theater class with Lawrence when she was nine years old at the renowned Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC, and she has been a dedicated student of musical theater ever since. Lawrence created an atmosphere in class that was safe, fun, and joyful, and he made the kids feel that no idea was a bad one. Among the many classes that my daughter took with Lawrence, she particularly loved the elective where her class write and acted in their own original play. Lawrence managed to lead his students through a process that was both rigorous and exhilarating, culminating in one of the high points of my daughters young life. I am also an arts educator, and I know a gem of a teacher when I see one. Lawrence is truly one of those rare teachers who leave a lasting deeply positive impact on children, and I could not recommend him more enthusiastically.
