I teach beginners, intermediate, and advanced players.

Advance players are those who play in tournaments and have a USCF (United States Chess Federation) rating between 1000-1799.

For advance players I offer a special package which includes a longer session, PGN (Portable Games Notation) of master level games and access to a chess Share drive.

I have worked independently as a chess teacher for over 14 years. I play in National tournaments and I have an online chess profile.

I have worked with two of the largest chess instruction companies in the U.S., Silver Knights and Chess Wizards.

My primary focus is with students who play in tournaments but I also work well with people who just want to learn the game.

As a self taught player I understand and emphasize with adult players who have time constraints.

I have a BS degree in Marketing from Georgetown University

I have a MS degree in Information Technology from
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

When I am not teaching chess I work as a HR Consultant.

Very good instructor, I have had two lessons so far with Lawrence. The first lesson he introduced me to the type of software he uses, he referred me to certain websites I should check out, like chessgames.com where we analyzed some master games in the opening that I play and an overview of what we would cover in lessons. My second lessons we worked on some tactics and some positions because I wanted to focus on more of my middle game. And he also helped prepare me for an upcoming tournament I am playing in by going over my openings. His explanations are clear, and he provides many additional resources to explore and study.

Lawrence is just awesome  ..  I am doing so much better than I ever dreamt I could. I a so happy to have found him! Thank you Lawrence
