    About Laurie R.

    4.8
    (10)
Originally from San Francisco, Laurie has traveled the country, (and the world) on her quest to make exciting theatre. She just finished up an awesome season as Acting Intern with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, while concurrently graduating with an MFA in Acting from the Unviersity of South Carolina. Some of Laurie’s favorite projects have been in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. One of her dearest projects is the creation of her solo show, The Maiden’s Prayer, a clown/dance/epic journey based on Chekhov’s Three Sisters and Pina Bausch’s Rite of Spring.

Laurie taught my freshman year acting class. I had never taken an acting class going into it, and to be honest had never really been interested in it. I wasn't good at public speaking and rather shy. To this day, however, this was by far my favorite class I've taken. Laurie was dynamic, made every single lesson fun, and really brought me out of my shell. She kept things simple, but also had some really good insight. One of those teachers that makes it easy and a good time. I highly recommend her to everyone!

I have been a student, collaborator, and educator alongside Laurie for several years now and it's very rare to find someone so relaxed and approachable in their craft while taking it very seriously. Laurie takes the same amount of care with her students as she does with her craft and the result is nothing short of amazing. She is dedicated to the student's growth as artists not only as a student but as one who will go out and interact on stage and off. She is passionate about the material and it comes through in the way she approaches the classroom.

great instructor, much enthusiasm. I took Laurie for a college course and she taught me an unforgettable approach for getting into role for difficult/controversial characters. And I still use that technique today!
