As a musical theater performer, I perform a wide range of genres from pop-rock to legit-musical theater! No matter if you're singing Adele or Rogers and Hammerstein, it's possible to sing all genres in healthy way so that your instrument keeps getting stronger, without losing the joy for the music. With a background in the Alexander Technique and Linklater, I emphasize a healthy approach to singing. Lessons will be catered to the student's individual goals and needs, but will focus on releasing unnecessary tension and building a strong foundation for the voice.

About Lauren T.

The whole world has to be indoors for the next few months, so let’s make music together!

I'm a professional actor/musician in NYC, and have played such roles as the Fiddler in the hit off-Broadway revival of The Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Oscar and Tony award winner Joel Grey (2019 Drama Desk Winner Best Musical Revival) and Reza in the national tour of Once (Tony winner best musical). I am available for in-home, online, and in-studio lessons, where I teach acting, singing, violin, flute, piano, and theory.

I received my BFA in Acting from Boston University's school of theater. As a classically trained musician, I've been able to incorporate my musical talents with my career as an actress. I play a range of professional gigs, from churches and synagogues to rock concerts to pit orchestras. My range of experience helps me cater lessons to you and your specific needs.

I have been teaching music and theater for over 10 years, including teaching at the Philadelphia Orchestra’s youth program Tune Up Philly. I have experience teaching students from a rage of background, including students for whom English is a second language (I am a certified ESL instructor).

No matter if we're working on music or acting, I'm incredibly committed to my students and want each lesson to be fun and motivational. I'm a patient, supportive teacher, and know that each student is unique and moves at his/her own pace! Please reach out to me, and I will be happy to answer your questions!

We love Lauren. She is making violin a great experience for our daughter (11 yrs old). She is very thorough and encouraging, and introduces interesting music that is fun and challenging for a beginner student. Our daughter says she can truly feel her own improvement, and is really happy to have additional lessons with Lauren, beyond what she receives in school. Lauren is flexible with scheduling and very reliable, and we intend to stick with her - and with the violin- for the duration!

Lauren is an awesome violinist. I worked with her in a show and watched her tackle many different styles of music, improvise with other musicians, and collaborate on new material. I would recommend her to anyone!

Lauren Thomas is an excellent musician with a tremendous amount of patience and a seemingly boundless supply of talents. As a fellow musician who has played professionally alongside Lauren, I have witnessed first hand her skilled mastery of both the flute and the violin -- as intuitive as she is technically proficient. Apart from her musical abilities, she's kind, fun and sensitive and would make for either a great beginner violin teacher or as an instructor for someone with intermediate skills looking to expand their abilities. Cannot recommend her highly enough! Whether you're seeking instruction in the flute or the violin, Lauren's the woman for the job.

She was the best instructor we ever have for my kids to teach English as ESL. She taught English my kids with acting and playing. I was impressed with her dialogue delivery to my kids and her face expressions, Me and my wife personally found her approach to our kids truly remarkable and commendable. Additionally, the skill of using a computer as a teaching tool was very professional. As a teacher, she is very dedicated and devoted person. We find ourselves lucky to meet with Lauren and my children are still missing her.
