    (*Note- Lauren only travels within Manhattan and areas just inside Queens and Brooklyn to give lessons) Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Lauren is an active performer and music educator based in New York City. She holds a Master of Music in jazz performance from Manhattan School of Music as well as a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Science in fisheries, wildlife and conservation biology from North Carolina State University. During her time in graduate school, Lauren studied vocal jazz with Grammy-nominated vocalist Kate McGarry and double bass with Harvie S and Jay Anderson. In her home state of North Carolina, Lauren gained recognition for her eclectic musical style, her unique voice and her ability to play and sing simultaneously in the jazz idiom. She was lauded as a “revelation” in Triad City Beat for her vocal and bass performance in the 2015 Miles Davis Jazz Festival at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Lauren is an avid performer in the New York jazz scene and appears at venues such as the legendary 55 Bar, where she enjoyed a monthly residency. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Cosmopolitan Club, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Cornelia St Cafe, Zinc Bar, Club Bonafide, Swing 46, Caffe Vivaldi, as well as other venues in the city. Lauren enjoys sharing her love of music with her students and has taught both privately and in New York City schools, including the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Program. In addition to playing bass and singing, Lauren also plays piano, clarinet, electric guitar, electric bass and acoustic guitar.

    Lauren is a great teacher. Her lesson are comprehensive, but easy to learn if the makes sense. She is very patient and kind. I am glad she is my teacher. I really feel like I learning and advancing.
