I have been a teacher since 1996 and a uke teacher since 2015, teaching uke to after school groups. I am a member of Houkulele, Houston's Social Ukulele Club. I have attended Uke Teacher Training courses with Kevin Carroll in Austin. I follow and use James Hill's ukulele in the classroom curriculum and supplement for the specific music interests of my students. I am continually learning new things. I attend uke workshops, TMEA music conferences and festivals like the Kerrville Folk Festival to continually improve my skill and my teaching techniques.

Laura, is a wonderful person and a talented musician . She worked with me to develop a realistic lesson plan that made since and set goals that were achievable. She was always available when I had questions and on time for our lessons, and accommodating when I wasn't able to make a schedule lesson time due to conflicts. Unfortunate I wasn't able to maintain my commitment and had to step away from the online format. I highly recommend Laura!

    Texas Music Educators Association

    Feb, 2017

Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. On behalf of its members and Texas schoolchildren, TMEA carefully monitors the actions of all state decision-making bodies on issues affecting fine arts instruction in Texas. In addition to many member benefits, TMEA offers professional development opportunities for its members with Region workshops and especially with its annual Clinic/Convention. TMEA supports the future of music education by offering scholarships to music education majors and by sponsoring the Texas Future Music Educators, an organization through which high school students interested in careers in music education learn more about what to expect in their college education and future careers.
