Hi, I’m Laura, and I want to tell you right now, you CAN sing and you SHOULD sing. From birth until death, the voice is our primary vehicle for expression. When you take a voice lesson, you are learning more than just good vocal technique (though that’s important). You’re learning about yourself and how to more confidently and effectively interact with the world. I’m happy to tell you all about my background and experience, but first, let's talk about YOU and how we can FIND YOUR VOICE. In our work together we’ll open up a large toolbox, and maybe even invent some of our own tools together. At times we’ll speak directly about the science of singing. At other times we’ll use imagery, sounds, and movement to help make the action of vocalizing a lived and felt experience in your whole body. You might even find yourself in a yoga pose or two. I have a masters degree in Voice Pedagogy and Performance from the Catholic University of America and a bachelors degree in sacred music (voice primary) from Westminster Choir College. I'm also an E-RYT 500 certified yoga teacher and love using yoga to show people how their body is their instrument. I've been teaching voice and piano privately for 13 years, directed church choirs throughout the country, and have performed throughout the world, from the stages of New York to Taiwan. But my first love has always been teaching, so most of the time you'll either find me in my home studio or teaching a yoga class in the Denver metro area.
