Hello, I'm Dr. Laura C! I am an experienced performer and teacher, and I enjoy working with students of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. I have been teaching music privately since 2012, and I offer lessons on flute, piccolo, recorder, and beginning Baroque flute. I love working with students who are enthusiastic about learning, and I emphasize individualized instruction so that I can support different types of students in reaching their musical goals. When I'm not playing the flute, I enjoy reading, running, making too many punny jokes, and hanging out with my cat, Theo the Music Theory Cat! :) Please feel free to send me a message if you want to know more!

Having the opportunity to grow with Dr. C is truly a gift! Her personal skill and expertise is awe inspiring, and she knows how to pass it on in clear and creative ways. She's always has amazing ways to explain everything, even simple scales and fundamentals, and keep anyone intrigued and learning. Dr. C puts so much care and effort into teaching her students during and after lessons. Personally her kindness and proactive nature has inspired me to grow and practice as a musician even during this time of quarantine.

I am so grateful to have had Dr. Laura Clapper as my teacher in private lessons, studio class, flute choir, and piccolo class during her doctoral studies at Florida State University. Dr. Clapper is an incredibly gifted musician and teacher. She is one of the most well-rounded musicians I have ever met with performance experience and research in many different fields of music. Coupled with that knowledge is a deep sense of compassion and dedication for her students. Dr. Clapper individualizes instruction to meet the student’s individual needs and goals. She is always willing to go the extra mile to help her students succeed. Dr. Clapper helped me grow as a musician beyond what I thought I was capable of and I am so thankful to have worked with a teacher as kind and knowledgeable as her!

I have definitely improved by her basic training and recommended etude. Her advice is truly fitting for my level up. Improving position, embouchure, control of breath and keeping air. I also like her sense because she select very beautiful tune matching with my level. Thank you.
