    About Laura C.

I am a professional musical theatre performer with a rich background in tap. I graduated from Plymouth State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Musical Theatre. Musical theater students can expect to improve in just a few lessons, feeling more calm, focused, and confident in their performance abilities. I focus on audition technique, whether you are practicing a monologue or a musical theatre song. I teach students how to relax, focus, and meditate prior to their audition so that they can control what only THEY can control in the audition room. I also have many tips and pointers on what and what NOT to do at auditions (based on personal experience!) Auditioning is truly an art, and it takes practice and a healthy mindset to persevere through! I also am able to coach monologues and songs for performance purposes. Tap students can expect to improve weekly in their tap dance technique. I teach students to relax and apply foundational techniques in order to achieve clean tap dance rhythms and sounds . I can help any student to tap with freedom, confidence, and their own unique expression will follow suit. I teach tap students of various ages and experience levels. I studied tap for 13 plus years. I can teach students to count each tap rhythm, and to learn what each tap step is called (which is also super helpful for tap auditions when they are calling out steps quickly!) My greatest inspiration was my college tap instructor, Aaron Tolson. I studied with him for 2 years, and I continued to study in NYC at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. I currently reside on the beautiful island of Maui, HI, and am in the midst of starting a "traveling tap tutor" company where I can go directly to families and teach their kids the wonderful art of tap one-on-one. I love to teach students who want to become dynamic tappers! My personal passion is theatrical tap but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better tap dancer!
