Hello and welcome!
I began teaching piano in 2003, and I teach all ages. My teaching style is positive, kind, direct and patient, challenging students to be their best. I gear lessons toward student strengths and interests, typically including: sight-reading music, ear training, technique, and theory. I love getting to know my students, their interests and strengths.
A few years ago, I also became a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP, a.k.a. Speech Therapist). I worked in the public schools as an SLP for a few years, but missed teaching piano and recently decided to reincorporate teaching music in addition to speech therapy. I have ample experience working with children with special needs, including many children with Autism and other needs and abilities.
Feel free to send any questions my way. I look forward to meeting you and getting started!

Very positive experience
My granddaughter and I took piano lessons from Laura here in Davis. We not only enjoyed the experience, but she helped us learn, each at our own pace, and was incredibly patient, especially with me and my aging fingers. I have yet to meet anyone who can match her for talent, versatility, knowledge, kindness and supportiveness!! We would still be learning from her today had she not moved away.+ Read More
When my daughter was six years old she was Laura's very first student. Laura is a very gifted musician and a fun, patient, and insightful teacher. My daughter loved playing the piano but she loved Laura even more. She is kind, loving and soft spoken with kids and is a great at motivating and encouraging them. Getting a child to put in their practice time each day can sometimes be challenging but my daughter did it....because she wanted to get better but also because she wanted to please Laura. It was a very sad day in our household when we learned that Laura was moving. My daughter continued taking piano lessons from another wonderful teacher after she moved and was able to build on the solid foundation that was established in her time with Laura. I highly recommend Laura...she is a beautiful person and an extraordinary teacher.+ Read More
My daughter took lessons from Laura for a year when she was 7 years old. Laura was kind and gentle with my shy daughter. She made her feel comfortable and my daughter progressed rapidly under her tutelage. As a side note, my mother-in-law took lessons immediately following my daughter's lesson and she loved working with Laura as well! The only reason we stopped is that Laura moved away.+ Read More
Laura taught two of my children piano. My daughter is the youngest and started playing at age 5, my so at age 10. Laura was very patient with them and was a great instructor. My kids do very well learning not just how to play but the theory of music and how to read music. I think learning piano is helpful in developing their minds, not just to play, but to help their critical thinking as they get older. There are a lot of studies on kids who learn to play piano early, but learning is only as good as the instructor that teaches. Laura started them on their journey in an amazing and loving way. We used Laura until she moved but we would have stayed with her for many more years.+ Read More
Laura provided voice lessons for my son and daughter and matched her teaching style to meet the unique needs of each. With her kind and expert guidance, their vocal style and stamina improved steadily. As she built their vocal skills, she also helped guide them as they developed into confident musical theater performers and members of an auditioned jazz choir.+ Read More
I had the privilege of having Laura as my piano teacher for quite a few years, and can not recommend her enough. She is extremely sweet, patient, talented, and a fantastic teacher who puts a lot of effort into helping her students succeed. I had a couple of other piano teachers before finding Laura, and the quality of her service doesn't even compare. I'd give her ten stars if I could!+ Read More
Miss Laura was my daughter Olivia's piano teacher for 4 years until she left for her mission to South Africa. She took lessons with her best friend Tori and both girls loved her. She was patient and kind. They took lessons together and split an hour. She praised both and worked well with their constantly changing levels at all times. She worked with each girl and helped then grow independently. My daughter was very shy at the time and loved recitals and looked forward to them. It allowed her the confidence to play the marimba in percussion ensemble and jazz band as she grew older. We have stayed in touch for many years because of the deep bond she had with my family. She has exceptional skills as a teacher. I would highly recommend her.+ Read More
Laura is an outstanding teacher for students of all ages. I was 45 when I started taking lessons with her after over 30 years of not playing. She is a highly accomplished musician who has the ability to translate her expertise to whatever level her students need and help them gain competency step by step. As a teacher myself I know that not all who can do can actually teach, but Laura is exceptional at both. Her kind, patient, encouraging manner helps you gain the confidence and keep up the motivation needed to progress. I highly recommend her. Brava!+ Read More
We found "Ms. Laura" to be the perfect piano teacher for our young son. She has all the qualities I could want in any instructor for my children: kind, gentle, knowledgeable, organized and reliable.
I took piano lessons from Laura when I was younger for several years and stopped because she moved away. I never witnessed her get frustrated or angry, she was always very patient and willing to teach thoroughly. Taking lessons from her was a privilege and I was always very excited to go to my next one! She is also very talented in her craft, which is motivating to her students.+ Read More
My two sons took piano, and one took voice lessons from Laura in Davis, CA. They found her style refreshing, and were very eager to please her, which resulted in great progress. She listened to their interests, was well organized, set clear expectations, and kept them interested while gently pushing them. Sadly, she moved away, but I'm so grateful for the time they had learning music with Laura - she nurtured a love of music which they will always have.+ Read More

I took lessons from Laura for several years when I was younger, and only stopped due to her moving away, but her teaching gave me a great grasp of the fundamentals that really helped me when I continued learning from another teacher and in school later on.
I was fortunate enough to take lessons from Laura over the course of a few months. Although the main purpose of these lessons was to prepare for an audition, they actually helped transform my grasp of music in general. With her incredible musicality and natural teaching abilities all, Laura's students are provided with clear and supported instruction that manifests in obvious improvement over time. Laura is a skilled musician, a heartfelt teacher, and I highly recommend you consult with her on your music journey!+ Read More
