I have been first trained as a professional opera singer as a child in Korea. For many years, I have performed on stage. When I came to America, I have continued to pursue education in voice (and piano) at Troy University and at Baptist College of Florida while seeking other degrees. In addition to my main focus on vocal training, I am professionally trained to play instruments such as piano, guitar, flute, and violin. I have learned to play piano and guitar to initially accompany my own singing, but I have continued to study these instruments to this day. I have been a main church pianist, wedding pianist, collaboration pianist, and etc. For flute and violin, I have been a member of ensemble groups and orchestra (and symphonic band) and performed on various occasions. These training has allowed me to start a music academy in Korea from 1990-1996. There, I have taught all the instruments I have learned: piano, violin, cello, flute, guitar, and voice. It started small, but it grew rapidly and before I came to US in 1996, I had over 250 students. I had hired 6 more teachers, one for each division. My students came as beginners and would leave as educated musicians, who entered competitions, performed in public events and at concerts, and sought degrees in music. In US, I had a small music studio for many years in Alabama. My students have entered AMTA competitions for state of Alabama, sonata competitions, and many others. Some have won, and others have lost. Those who won smiled and those who lost cried, but all returned with good experiences. Now in Georgia, I am starting to teach again. I hope to offer my new students same amount of care and education borne out of experience that I have provided for many, many years. *** Lesson Details *** Teaching is my passion. I have taught music for over 20 years to students of all ages, of all backgrounds, and of various levels of training. When I teach, I want to make sure that my students are enjoying the process of creating music. Learning something new, or continuing the education may be difficult or frustrating at times. This may encourage students to give up prematurely. However, when learning is a fun experience, students can learn to truly appreciate the joy of music. I can offer you with this opportunity. My lessons will typically consist of 3 main sections: music theory, practice (on instrument of choice), and art of performance. The degree of introductions to these will vary depending on the interest and the training level of the student. I may be using Suzuki or other curriculums that are organized and appropriate to the student's learning curve. I will accommodate the musical needs of everyone. In terms of teaching style, I am patient, friendly, and accommodating. I like to enjoy each lessons with my students, so I will be smiling alot. It'll be a minimally stressful environment. If you would like to have me as your music instructor, please feel free to ask for me and we'll get started on our musical journey together. *** Studio Equipment *** Personal studio w/ flute, violin, cello, piano, and seating for parents *** Specialties *** church music and classical music
