Guitar with Kyle H.

I am a 26 year old musician who has been playing since 13 years old. I started out on bass because I thought 4 strings would be easier, a year later I decided six strings was a bit more challenging and I have never looked back. As a sophomore in high school I won the battle of the bands contest and a year later I played my first gig in a local bar! Since then I have always thrived to be a great performer and a solid player. A part of me has always wanted to pass on my knowledge to anyone who is interested in being a great player and/or performer. Even if you play a different instrument than guitar and are looking for an extra skill for performance or musicianship, I can be the help that you need. I had a conversation with a friend of mine who plays the banjo and every time we play he learns something from me even though I don't play the banjo. We decided that I could teach "How to be a musician". So that is what I specialize in as well as the guitar itself! I have played in numerous bands around the Washington State and California area, I currently play in a ProgRock band based out of Santa Cruz, Ca. I have studied music theory for 10 years and it makes playing so much more simplistic once you get the fundamentals down, and it only grows more and more the more that you learn. From my studies I have gained easier ways to learn theory and ways for students to understand what is being taught. I am also a dad with a 3 year old son which inspires me everyday to teach and be a great person. Currently, I work at a local guitar store here in Santa Cruz and I am going to school to earn my bachelors degree in music. I also have been studying the piano. I can read music and I can teach how to transpose material. I can teach all styles although I specialize in Rock n' Roll, Blues, Pop-Rock, and Metal Styles.
