I have been teaching private trumpet lessons since 2006 and have been playing professionally for nearly as long. I received my Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education (505, 506) from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2009. I spent a year teaching privately and gigging, and went back to school for my Master of Music in 2010. I graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2013 with my Master of Music in Trumpet Performance and Wind Conducting. I spent my time at UW-M as a Graduate Conducting Associate and Teaching Assistant, working with students ranging from middle school through post-college. Since then, I have been maintaining a regular trumpet studio and freelancing in southeast Wisconsin.
I have performed in a wide variety of groups and ensembles throughout the years; consequently, I am comfortable teaching a wide variety of styles to a variety of age groups. I have performed with the Madison Chamber Orchestra, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra, and the Milwaukee Philharmonic. I am a regular member with Milwaukee Festival Brass, a European-style brass band, as principal solo cornet, as well as the Beloit-Janesville Symphony on Principal Trumpet. Contrastingly, I also freelance regularly with New Orleans-style brass bands similar to Mama Digdown’s Brass Band, jazz ensembles (I am an active member in the East Side Jazz Orchestra), funk and blues bands, in ensembles accompanying professional choirs, and for religious services in the Milwaukee area.

My daughter has been taking trumpet lessons with Krystal for many years and loves her time with her. She is professional in all ways and has limitless knowledge of the instrument. My daughter has faced a few challenges since starting and Krystal has gotten her through them all, working with her to prepare my daughter to audition for and be placed as one of the youngest students in our local community youth orchestra, as well as earn first ratings on her district solos. She is beyond accommodating with our hectic schedule, which is incredibly rare for a private instructor. Krystal is a huge reason my daughter loves playing as much as she does and I cannot recommend her enough. As a parent, the most important aspects I require in a private instructor are a love of music and a love of teaching. Krystal embodies these both, and we are lucky to have found her.+ Read More
