Conservatory in the Schools (San Francisco Conservatory of Music)

Once a week for a few hours, I went to a middle school to act as a coach to supplement students' musical education. I either worked one-on-one with the bassoon students, or with a larger group of students that included oboe, saxophone, and low-brass students as well. We worked on their band repertoire and method books mostly, and I helped them work better together as a group as well as helped improve individually.

I had a private student who was a high school student. We had weekly lessons held at her residence. She really enjoyed playing the bassoon, and though she doesn't see it as a career option, she always had fun playing in band. Our lessons focused on improving her technique, especially fingerings, embouchure, and support. We worked on etudes from the Weissenborn method book as well as repertoire from her band class. She even had a few solos in her band pieces that we worked on together to improve her tone production and musicality.
