French Horn

I have enjoyed teaching a studio of 50-60 french horn players in the last 11 years and 25 total years teaching horn. My students consistently earn top honors, such as 14-18 students per year for the last five years placing in Tennessee's Midstate Bands. Many make All-State, Governor's School, and get full music scholarships in college.

I have a passion for students experiencing great music making. Meanwhile I instill solid horn foundations such as good embouchure, sitting position/horn angle, tonguing, tone, and breathing. I adapt my exact teaching methods to students' learning styles and goals, often using fun and artistic music I've written. I have taught 3rd graders to 70 year olds, beginners to college and professional players.
I play horn professionally, having played with Nashville Symphony, Colorado Symphony and as a regular member of the symphonies of Huntsville. Alabama; Evansville, Indianna; Owensboro, Kentucky, Greeley, Colorado, and Cheyenne Wyoming as well as in Gateway Chamber Orcheatra and Iris Chamber Orchestra.
My Bachelors and Masters Degree are in Music Performance from the University of Northern Colorado and Denver University. I've also taught at Sewanee University and Tennessee State University.
