Poetry: The Art of Language. The art of expression taught by experienced poerty professor.

Poetry is an art form of language. It is meant to help students and writers express their inner-selves through words, emotions, setting, and tone. As a professor of Creative Writing and Poetry, teaching students the art of expressing themselves in writing, journaling, or “open mic” style reading of a poetry piece, allows me to better understand students thoughts, concerns, dreams, and lifelong goals. Poetry is an effective way of expressing ones voice silently and openly. My teaching style is to learn from one another, myself included. I believe in talking with my students, not at them. Learning is a life -long process that is meant to carried beyond the classroom. When and individual learns how to express themselves in a way that is effective in both their personal and professional lives, their goals and success will be endless.

    About Kimberly M.

Hello. My name is Kimberly and I have been a Creative Writing, English, and Poetry Professor for three years. In addition to teaching writing I have also worked in the dental field for most of my career, and I am also a dental instructor. My passion for writing goes beyond just teaching students how to become writing; my goal is to learn how to teach writing in a way that students can use the expression of language, tone, and imagination in their personal and professional lives. Life-long learning is the key to successful mind. I am currently teaching an adult poetry workshop for women that do not have the time or ability to attend academic classes but, they want to learn to express themselves without always being vocal. By learning how to journal or how to scrap book images that represent feelings assists student that are introverted but have a story to share. Teaching writing allows me the best of both worlds, to teach and to learn from my students. Together we create a comfortable, interactive, and successful learning community.
