    About Kimberly L.

I have made a career out of teaching and assisting people in reaching their goals and improving their lives. I have a Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Counseling. I am a Certified Teacher (regular and special education), School Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor and have my Certification in TESOL/English as a Second Language (ESL). I have been in the field of Education and Counseling for over twenty years working in a variety of settings with diverse populations. Most recently, I completed my TESOL certification program through Anaheim University and received addition training from the Literacy Volunteers of America. I have been teaching non-native English speaking students for the past three years. My students come from many countries, backgrounds and cultures. I am a compassionate and person-centered professional who develops and instructs lessons based on individual’s needs and preferences. I use a Communicative Language instructional approach that is learner centered and emphasizes the use of language for communication in real life situations. I am culturally sensitive and skilled in a range of techniques for teaching listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, grammar and conversational skills. I guide, encourage and support students in setting and achieving goals and with adjusting to life in the United States. I also assist in the areas of American culture, work-place literacy, daily living skills, community fluency and academic assistance/proofreading. In addition, I offer lessons for Citizenship preparedness for the Naturalization exam if desired.
