Teaching is a wonderful extension of my work as a professional crochet and knit designer and technical editor. A web search will reveal some of my published work over the last decade. As a craft teacher in the NYC area for over 8 years, I have worked with individuals, groups and classes of all ages and skill levels. Most of my experience focuses on working with older adults and people with special needs. Minors must have a supervising adult present. I do not work with groups of young children.
I have studied the history and mastered the skills to make and teach a vast variety of textile techniques. Please see my experience.
If you are using this site without the assistance of a TL Rep, I recommend the schedule as you go option. I often have openings in my calendar sooner than the site allows. After we make contact, we can choose the best date and time.

Exactly what I was looking for. My daughter had surgery last week and I wanted her to be able to learn to knit while she's at home for the next ten days. Kim was upbeat and clearly competent. She also went out of her way to help me (a leftie knitter) learn how to help my daughter if she ran into snags. Thank you, Kim!+ Read More

I booked Kim for an in-person crotchet lesson and knew right away she was a good fit for me. Our first and second in-person lessons were learning the basics as I have no experience. I just finished my third lesson and I am already working on projects.
Kim is very kind, patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and flexible with booking and selecting projects of interest. She can anticipate your next move and is able to read her students very early on to know where they may struggle and/or have success. I recommend Kim to anyone who has a desire to learn!

Kim was terrific! It was great to go through the basics and actually have someone watch what I was doing. Now I'm not HOPING I'm doing it correctly, i KNOW I'm doing it correctly She's very good with the step-by-step verbals and visuals, and moves at a comfortable pace. Also, I learned a bunch of cool little tips from her. Added bonus: she's a super nice and interesting person; turns out we share many of the same interests, and what I'm looking to develop - sort of a little niche project thing - she's been doing for years. I'll definitely be taking additional lessons from her. Thanks, Kim!+ Read More

Kim is fantastic and PATIENT! Highly recommended!!!
So far, after one lesson I've gathered that Kim is extremely spirited, knowledgeable and fun to work with. I'm an absolute, doe-eyed beginner and she even made going over the sewing machine instruction manual fun.
I didn't feel at all like I'm just another student. It seems, after first impressions that she genuinely cares about helping me reach my goals.
I love this way of taking lessons. Youtube doesn't allow for questions and it is SOO helpful to be doing it together and have questions answered immediately!
Kim is wonderful with very clear descriptions and amazingly patient, staying with me even when internet connections were iffy. Thank you so much!
She's super knowledgeable and a great teacher. I'm excited for my next lesson!
Kim is amazing and one of the most patient teachers! I have really enjoyed each of my lessons and I look forward to taking many more.
Kim is very knowledgeable and patient.
She was very knowledgeable, explained everything I needed to know and gave me a few tips as well. Excellent Teacher.
Always a wonderful lesson. Kim is patient and easy to work with! She has the ability to transfer her knowledge of sewing online, that makes it feel like she is in the room with you!
I went with Kim because of her ratings. I'm so happy I did! This was my first time sewing and after just 1 lesson I know how to use my machine!!! I had trouble with putting a pattern together but Kim was very patient with me and walked me through it. I like that she also took the time before hand to make a sample of the project I wanted to do. I wasn't able to finish my project online with her but she made sure I would be able to finish it with out her. Which I did! Another thing I liked about kim was she did not try to get me to buy more lessons. She didn't even mention it! I was so nervous about the whole online thing but she made me comfortable. I had so much fun and learned so much that I will defiantly be using her again! Thank you kim!!!!!+ Read More

Kim is so patient and graciously put up with me using Skype on my cell phone.
I'm looking forward to my next lesson!
I really like learning with Kim. I have had some exposure with learning to crochet but very minimal. Somehow when she explains it, it is all coming together and sinking in - I can make sense of things now where I couldn't before. She takes you step by step and is VERY knowledgeable about the process of crocheting. I wasn't sure how I would feel about an online lesson but it is perfect for me. She will show you using large needles and bulky yarn thereby making it easier for you to see and understand. I highly recommend her.+ Read More
Great help with a crochet pattern that was very difficult to read. She also provided other helpful tips for my project. I would highly recommend her.

My first lesson was good. Kim was very knowledgably and patient. I was a little apprehensive of online classes and would rather do a face to face class here locally. I had to settle for online. We had several scheduling conflicts but finally it worked out. My first class she forgot to place me on both calendars so she wasn't expecting me but taught the lesson.+ Read More

had a great experience with Kim! she was able to assess my skill level, and meet me where I was at. she also provides a lot of information, so you are learning some fashion history as well. the truly valuable part of this lesson to me, is that she shows you how to use your machine, so you use it to it's full capacity. so improves the way you work so that you become more efficient.+ Read More
Great experience online! Learned some valuable tips. Looking forward to another lesson with Kim.
I have a pattern I was trying to figure out. Kim was very patient with me. I didn't do any of the pre-work she sent as I didn't see the email but she never commented on it. (I just found it).
She is clearly knowledgable and helped me, as a visual learner, walk through the steps I needed to learn. She was able to fit me in quickly which I really appreciated and helped me get back on track. Kim is truly able to meet you where you are in your learning experience.
Today was my first class with my teacher Kim. It was great experience learning from her. She helped me in every step in cutting fabric the right way using pattern.
After taking this class i have no doubt that I will be able to learn even with skype session as the teacher knows how to deliver her skills and knowledge even on Web cam.
Also i am not very good at speaking English because I am not native speaker and my mother tongue is different from English but still the teacher was able to make me understand how should I proceed my project of making wash day apron.
She is very nice and has very good communication skills along with the knowledge she has about her subject (Sewing etc)
I will recommend this teacher to others too.
She is remarkable. The most patient and great teacher. she is the best.
Kim was great! Personable, patient, and very knowledgable.

GREAT TEACHER! GREAT PATIENCE! WONDERFUL PERSONALITY! A++++++++!
Fantastic teacher, I highly recommend! She was really helpful, and I learned way faster than I expected to!
I had my first lesson with Kim and am so tickled to be able to learn from her via Skype. She was able to clear up every question I had; brainstormed with me as to how to alter a pattern since the yarn I was using did not fit the gauge; and generally made me feel at ease. I'm looking forward to having future lessons with the ever-so- patient Kim! If you have taken knitting classes in a group and been disappointed, this style of one-on-one interaction will feel sublime! Can't recommend her enough!+ Read More

This instructor surpassed my expectations. She should be teaching an entire class at FIT or Pratt because she is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, patient and thorough. She is also responsible and clearly very passionate. She is interesting and after having sessions w/ Kim she has definitely sparked my interest in continuing and improving. Kim could probably teach physics to a monkey she is that good!+ Read More
