I am a professional singer and voice teacher from Bemidji, MN. Most recently I have been based out of Los Angeles but have recently moved back and into the Twin Cities area. I hold two degrees in voice performance (M.M. Thornton School of Music, B.M. Concordia College) and am a trained vocologist (National Center of Voice and Speech and the University of Utah). My style as a voice teacher is to use carefully crafted exercises and simple directives to help students achieve optimal vocal production. My methods are rooted in voice science so that I can ensure total vocal safety and efficiency for each student. My training allows me to adapt my teaching style to each individual voice. Each voice is unique and every student requires an approach that is tailor-made for them. I strive to help students learn to be their own teachers. I can't be in the practice room monitoring my students day to day so it is important to me that they learn how to identify issues and correct themselves when I am not present. My goal is to cultivate well informed, independent and healthy singers. While my approach may sound technique-heavy, my focus always remains on creating art. The use of science in the studio is only a vehicle to allow each student the vocal freedom to express and create as uninhibited as possible. I place a strong emphasis on style, language, musicality, expression, and acting because what good is a flawless technique if there is no heart in your performance? I would love the opportunity to help you cultivate your voice and I hope to see you in the studio soon!Show More
