Hi! I'm a Boston-based composer, performer and educator from Gibraltar whose recent concert works explore the intersections of traditional and graphic notations, indeterminacy (improvisation) and colour.
I began playing guitar at the age of 12 and developed a quick affinity towards music. In 2014 I was accepted to Berklee college of music and graduated with a degree in Composition in 2018. During my time at Berklee I studied guitar with Freddie Bryant and Rick Peckham, composition with Andrew List, Marti Epstein and Tamar Diesendruck and ensemble work with Simon Shaheen and Ned Rothenberg. As an active member of the Berklee community I was a peer advisor and orientation leader, member and later co-chairperson of SAAVE (student allies in anti-violence education) and a peer health educator at the Berklee Health and Wellness department. In 2018, due to my dedication to social justice and health, I received the Berklee Health and Wellness leadership award.
I began composing for guitar in 2014 and later started writing for chamber ensembles and orchestra. My concert works have been performed and workshopped by a variety of performers at Berklee College of Music as well as highly-established and reputable ensembles such as the MIVOS quartet, Loadbang and String noise.
In 2018, my composition “Consciousness” String Quartet No.1 (2017) recieved the Bill Maloof award from the Berklee Composition Department and was featured on the annual Professional Writing Departments CD.
I continue to reside in Boston, MA, pursuing teaching opportunities and continuing to perform and compose.
I teach guitar and composition to young students and assist the other music teachers when necessary. We focus on engaging the students with fun musical activities and exercises that strengthen their appreciation of the art of composition and performance.
