I always tell my students that the most important thing is that yes we are learning how to play an instrument, but just as important we should be having FUN . I always try to incorporate the fun factor while teaching a lesson. Having an extensive background playing music live I bring a bit of a Rock& Roll attitude and energy to my lessons many times using synthesizers in addition to the piano. Bottom line is music should always be an enjoyable and creative experience.
This was an independent school which I founded. For 25 years I typically taught 30 to 40 lessons per week with an annual recital performed at a local church in a beautiful sanctuary. Through the years in addition to operating a successful teaching studio I performed with rock and roll bands, as a church pianist , as a solo pianist . and even in a symphonic orchestra on occasion.+ Read More
My daughter had Kevin as a piano teacher for about 10 years and absolutely loved him! She began lessons when she was young and he helped her understand the piano while developing a foundation for that instrument. As she got older he was not only a piano teacher to her but a mentor and friend! He was always willing to try something new if she had a song idea. She appreciated how understanding and flexible he was. She learned so much from him and her skill increased every year. Great teacher and great person! His love for the piano made her love it too!+ Read More
Mr. Shaffer is an excellent piano instructor for those interested in learning contemporary music. He's very easy-going and patient, which my youngest son needed (ADHD, Asperger's, and Anxiety). For Tiernan, his lessons with Mr. Shaffer meant learning and playing music, sharing his passion for Legos or some other new and exciting joy, and non-judgemental companionship. Mr. Shaffer strives to instruct individuals based on his/her likes... Over 4 or 5 years, Mr. Shaffer taught all 3 of my boys. He is one amazing guy!+ Read More
