Specializing in Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, Live Performance, and songwriting. About: Kevin Ryan was born and raised in San Diego, California first picking up the harmonica at age 5. After having so much fun jamming with his family, he picked up the guitar and started learning songs by ear and teaching himself theory out of books. He lost interest in traditional lessons with a "boring" approach from his conventional teacher after his first lesson and pursued a different path. At age 11, He Started playing in the middle school band where he would preform pieces from Beethoven, Mozart, Led Zeppelin, ACDC and much more. Doing a performance with his smaller/ tighter band at almost every school event. He started Preforming in smaller venues with his band doing originals and covers. At Age 15, He moved to the US Virgin Islands where his love for music only increased. Since there was less to do/ less distractions on a island, he focused alot more on music. He got his first residency every Friday night with a R&B/ Blues/ Jazz band within the first month he relocated, playing at one of the island's finest hotels. There he was, a young kid hanging in with the pro's! He also played for a band "Prodigy Block" winning many awards and being sought after for its young flavor & talent. Played for many musicals including Willy wonka, Footloose at his highschool. After Graduating Highschool, he moved back to San Diego to further his Music studies at Miracosta college. He also quickly started playing with a few of Southern California's Premier event entertainment Bands. Now Kevin is found Playing in recognizable Groups all over Southern California and spreading his love for music. He wants to motivate young musicians to learn music and stay interested. ****Lesson Details**** I want to help my students stay motivated to learn music. I teach Music Theory from books but I also teach my students to trust and effectively use their ears. Ear Training is something I like to focus on. If You want to learn songs as quick as possible, i will help you do that. If you want to be able to read classical pieces and play them, I am here for you. Every lesson is tailored to the specific needs of each unique individual.
