Kevin has been a guitarist for more than 28 years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma City University earning a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar. He went on to earn a Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance from the University of North Texas. Kevin has been fortunate enough to have studied with some of the world's foremost classical guitarists. In addition to instruction from Tom Johnson, professor of guitar at UNT, he has studied privately for a number of years with Christopher McGuire, a pupil of Andres Segovia and a very well respected member of the guitar community. With the help of these mentors, Kevin was able to perform in master classes of numerous world famous classical guitarists, including Manuel Barrueco, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Jason Vieaux and Pepe Romero. "Kevin has demonstrated a great understanding of both the technical and artistic elements of music. He is one of the finest students I've taught in my twenty seven years of teaching." - Christopher McGuire, 2002 Kevin has performed extensively in concerts, recitals and competitions as a solo artist and as a member of various guitar ensembles. He has served as guest performer/lecturer for colleges in Oklahoma and Texas, and has served on the music faculty of various academies and junior colleges. The classical training he has received has enabled Kevin to excel at many styles of guitar playing. He has performed with numerous rock bands as lead guitarist, and is also half of the acoustic guitar duo Almost Spanish. *** Lesson Details *** FUN AND EFFECTIVE. My lessons are always tailored to the individual student, but all students learn music theory in addition to guitar. I am thorough, but not overly strict. And don't worry, it won't feel like homework. I believe that music lessons should be fun for the student. If you enjoy the lessons, you will more likely enjoy practicing and will therefore achieve better results. So I make sure to include songs and tricks that the student really likes in the curriculum. I use a variety of methods, depending on the student. Within 6 months, my guitar students can expect to have a strong understanding of basic music theory and how to apply that knowledge to the guitar. They will know how to read music in both guitar tablature and standard notation. If they have practiced, they will be able to play complete songs that have been chosen along the way. More advanced students will find that they have improved technique, improved accuracy and control, improved tone, and stronger improvisational skills. *** Studio Equipment *** My studio is comfortable, and fully equipped with all the necessary tools for great lessons, including amps, cables, effects pedals, and audio/video recording equipment for those who wish to have a recorded copy of their lessons. *** Specialties *** The majority of my expertise in in classical guitar and electric rock guitar.

First Lesson I enjoyed my initial lesson with Kevin. He was able to quickly discern foundational where I am and what I need to be understand/learn before I can progress in order to reach my personal goal. I look forward to the next few lessons with Kevin.

My daughter really enjoyed learning from Kevin because of his expertise, patience and what an "awesome" instructor he is! She especially appreciated the fact that he geared all lessons towards her music style and interests. I myself enjoyed having him for my daughters instructor because of his professionalism, punctuality and calm demeanor. Kevin always made the time to answer any questions I had. We highly recommend Kevin!
