Welcome! My name is Kevin and I have been drumming for 15 years. I play with local acts of all styles mostly in the Central Florida area. I have learned many different styles and with an ever expanding arsenal of chops and grooves, there is never a shortage of teaching material, even for my experienced students. Taking lessons with me will get you on a path to better playing immediately! Lessons are always fun and rewarding for my students, and myself. *** Lesson Details *** Every student is different but by the end of the first lesson, I will have a good idea of where the student stands. For beginners and players who have no formal training – to begin with, we will be visiting the world of rudiments, hand technique, and basic reading. I always like to keep the connection between the instrument and music so we will also start playing the kit immediately. One will also be shown how to utilize a metronome. After the basics have been addressed we can move on to different styles and really get into some exciting stuff! For those with marching experience, or other formal training, we will visit different styles and check out some advanced techniques. Some of the styles we will visit: Swing/Jazz, Shuffle Patterns/Blues, Linear, Funk, Rock, Double Bass Drumming etc. I also know some Latin and Reggae grooves. No matter where you are in your playing, you can expect from our lessons: greater limb independence, a better understanding of music theory, and an all around improvement in your abilities as a drummer/musician. We can expand as time goes on. *** Specialties *** I am an all around drummer. I can get students going on Latin, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Rock, Pop, Metal, Punk, Linear, Reggae etc. I like to get into rudiments and have my students focus on good hand technique.
