Learning and teaching ASL has been my passion for ten years! I love teaching ASL to students who are learning it, future teachers who need the skills for their classroom, and families of children who experience deafness.

I have taught ASL to my peers at the university I attended, privately to families, as well as to over fifty students per day at the elementary school where I am employed! I love developing ASL lessons for my students, and watching them fall in love with the language when I teach it to them through games and lessons.

ASL is a beautiful and connective language that anyone can learn! I look forward to sharing my developed skills and my unique passion for sign language with you.

About Kerra D.

Teaching ASL is my #1 passion! I also love photography, hiking, cooking for friends and family, going on backpacking trips abroad, and writing music. I love learning international sign languages as well when I am traveling!

I first learned Sign Language when I was a freshman in high school and immediately was hooked. I've taught American Sign Language to adults and children - hearing and deaf - in colleges and elementary schools, I've led adapted sports for children who experience disabilities, and have completed 1,200+ hours of fieldwork in local elementary schools for my Bachelors Degree in Education, where I tutored and taught all subjects. I additionally have my advanced tutor certification. I have tutored for AVID in middle schools, provided reading support to emergent bilingual students in low income elementary schools, and have volunteered tutoring kids basic math in local high schools. My favorite experience so far has been teaching and tutoring English in Costa Rica and Thailand. I was able to work in classrooms within the communities of the students, while building relationships with families, and creating a rich learning environment.

Overall teaching is my absolute passion, and I hope to meet you soon! :)
Best,
Kerra
