- Teaching since:
I always say that American Sign Language was my first language because it sorta was. My grandmother who helped my single mom raise me, thought it was important for me to know sign language so I started signing before I could talk. I am deaf in one ear and the doctors always worried I might loose my hearing in my other ear. My current household now signs on a daily basis and I’m even teaching our one year old as well.
My lessons will always be fun and my students will walk away from each lesson knowing they have improved and will always have something to take away from each lesson. I realize everyone learns differently and am willing to work with my students on what is the best way to learn for them personally.
I have signed with my jobs in retail and the food industry, as well as helped out at local schools and hospitals on an as needed basis. I have also helped teach extended family basics so that they have an understand of this beautiful language!
I have a passion for the deaf culture, having been a part of it and growing up in it. It’s my hope that my students will have the same passion as well and a better understanding and be able to use ASL in their future endeavors whatever that may be.
