After leaving the improv and training community in Chicago, I started Charlotte Comedy Theater in NC, now in its 16th distinguished year.  We have won several Best of the Best awards, and have been recognized as one of the top 50 comedy clubs in the US. We perform weekly improv shows, teach classes and corporate team building workshops.

Hi, I'm Keli Semelsberger , founder and Executive Director of the award winning Charlotte Comedy Theater in Charlotte NC.  I studied and performed improv in Chicago with Del Close, Mick Napier, Charna Halpern, Susan Messing, Amy Poehler and many more prior to starting my own theater in the south. I am also a 25 year corporate team building trainer. I teach workshops all over for improvisers and corporations alike. My workshops are high energy, laid back and inspiring!  My theater has been in operation for 16 year and I've been hired to work on programs for Tru TV and MTV as well.  I love improv and believe everyone can benefit from learning to live in the moment and bring more joy into their lives.

Keli is phenomenal. She really knows her stuff and puts her 23+ years of improv teaching, performing and directing experience to work for you. Anything she charges would be a bargain but her rates at Charlotte Comedy Theater were beyond reasonable. I got SO much out of taking her class. She cares about her students and her passion for teaching and improv comedy is contagious. She is great at motivating, creating a safe environment for taking risks and making everyone feel welcome, comfortable and like having fun. Taking classes with Keli is a game changer. She was my first improv teacher and since taking classes with her 15 years ago I have had a very successful career in comedy and now own my own comedy theater. So, she is pretty great at what she does!

Keli is an outstanding improvisor who uses her experience and skills to help guide others on their journey to improvisation. I'd been a performer for years before meeting Keli, and she taught me new techniques and games that I hadn't done previously. I truly enjoyed my time both as her student and as a performer with her, and I'd still be there if I hadn't moved away.
