Upright Bass with Keegan B.

Though I am primarily an orchestral bass player, I am lucky to have a wide variety of opportunities to perform, including playing jazz on bass and guitar, marching in a world-class drum and bugle corps as a trumpet player, and marching in my high school drumline as well as a winter drumline. I am currently studying music at Central Michigan University, and have received my Bachelors and Masters degrees in English and Communication, respectively. All this to say: I take pride in being a diverse, well-educated individual with a variety of skills and experiences, and I use these skills to help my students grow in their own endeavors. Being a great musician is more than just being proficient on your instrument; it requires a knowledge of theory, history, and ear training, as well as both technical and musical knowledge of the instrument. It requires confidence in public speaking and interpersonal communication, all of which are skills that I am experienced in teaching and able to teach to students. Yes, our number one goal will be achieving mastery on the instrument, but creating a well-rounded individual ready to take on music at the collegiate and professional levels is my goal for students, and my background makes me uniquely equipped to do just that! I love teaching and learning from students, and I can't wait to meet you and start (or continue) your musical journey together!
