I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications Design from Pratt Institute. Although I have always strived to become a fine artist, I preferred to matriculate from the design school because of its focus on communicating ideas to the audience—a skill that he believes is essential to any artwork. Naturally observant of the world around him, I takes in specific details that reflect my personal philosophy. My painting method is derived from his unique perspective of the world, which I recreate in great detail from memory. To me, every action—with or without a paintbrush—is a part of this process. This unique mindset allows me the freedom to connect my philosophy to my work without the need to explicitly abstract or over-symbolize his subject matter. This leads to work with seemingly simple surface imagery, but is layered with meaning and intent. With this working practice, I am well equipped to teach all aspects, technical or conceptual, of drawing, painting, and design at any level. As a full time professional, I can introduce students to a world that I see and expericence everyday and a very tangible understanding of the process of making art. An understanding and relating of many ideas through the visual vernacular of the things around us.
