I have taught music for several years; I taught through college and graduate school. Upon graduating, I started my full time job, but have managed to teach on the side with no problems. I've played violin for 19 years and piano for 23 years. Though I do not have a college degree in music, I have managed to maintain a roster of 10+ students. I view teaching music as highly important, and am committed to training the next generation of talented musicians. *** Lesson Details *** Students can expect a relaxed but challenging environment. I am highly encouraging, as I would not want to disillusion anybody from learning an instrument. For violin I use a combination of methods based on the needs of the student. Suzuki is one method, combined with exercise books for positions/double stops. I also will emphasize duets, and then move towards concertos and sonatas. For piano, I use Alfred's Piano Library; I have found that this route is a good blend of theory and ear training. After 6 months, a student can expect to have learned several pieces, and hopefully be able to perform these at a recital.
