I have been a self-employed music teacher for three years, teaching children of all ages, and adults. I taught primarily piano, but also voice and guitar.

Piano lessons with me are fun and enjoyable, yet challenging in all the right ways! Music theory and performance technique are worked into the practice times in a way that makes it easy and accessible. I teach piano through classical music, jazz, blues, movie soundtracks, and pop music. My students are always encouraged to give feedback and share their preferences for the style of music they most want to learn.

I am a 20-something, self-taught musician. I have been extensively studying music, primarily piano and vocal performance, as well as guitar for the past 13 years. I am a composer and producer of my own songs, and have extensive experience with teaching children as young as three-years old. My philosophy is that music should be very enjoyable to learn, but that quality must not be sacrificed. My method of teaching focuses on classical and jazz music, as well as music theory and contemporary music, such as songs from movie soundtracks and pop songs. I am engaging and fun, allowing flexibility for each student to concentrate on what they most want to learn.

My daughter has had a wonderful experience learning to play the piano with Katrina. The pace of learning and music preference has been catered to my where daughter is at that moment. On Katrina's first day in our home she asked what our goals and expectations were for my daughter. My daughter had a desire to learn piano in a very casual manner, purely for her own interests and enjoyment.  She has been able to learn a range of music from classical to jazz with some old radio favorites and holiday music thrown in for good measure. 

We truly enjoyed inviting Katrina into our home on a weekly basis for more than year.  Her patience with children coupled with her knowledge of the piano and ability to teach are unmatched.  Our time with Katrina has been an enjoyable experience.

Katrina motivates and keeps our kids learning. She is able to challenge each one individually. She is on time and just a nice teacher and role model.

Katrina is an absolutely wonderful instructor! My children are 12 and 9 and have been working with Katrina for over a year.  They were new to piano studies for the most part.  Katrina's kind and patient manner has made it so they really enjoy both lessons and practice.  She incorporates reading music as well as piano instruction in such a synergistic way, my kids don't even realize how much they are learning. It becomes intuitive.  She also picks musical selections that interest the kids and are appropriately challenging.  I highly recommend her!
