KatieRose McLaughlin is a NYC-based choreographer originally from Minneapolis, MN. Trained in ballet under the direction of ABT ballerina Bonnie Mathis, she attended the Joffrey/New School BFA program on full scholarship prior to kicking off her love affair with theater by training at a renowned clown school in Switzerland. She has performed with the Tony-Award winning Theatre de la Jeune Lune and as Esmeralda in several iterations of Redmoon Theater’s “Hunchback” including runs in Washington D.C. and at the New Victory Theater in NY (where it received a NYTimes Critics’ Pick).

KatieRose is the Associate Choreographer for the Tony award-winning Broadway musical HADESTOWN.

Notable credits from her wide-ranging choreographic career in theater include BEAR SLAYER (Ars Nova), THE BLACK CROOK (Abrons Arts Center), THE SPACE BETWEEN THE LETTERS (Under the Radar’s INCOMING!), BUMP (EST), PARADE (Yale Dramat), SEAGULLMACHINE (LaMama), PROMENADE (Barnard College), and TRAGEDY IN SPADES (University Settlement). She has choreographed for opera, film, and music videos (including Jean Rohe’s Live, which she also directed).

In 2013, she co-founded and became the artistic director of Designated Movement Co., a dance/theater company interested in blurring the lines between forms. As a creator, she has been an artist-in-residence with Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Process Space (2017) to further develop CLARA NOT CLARA, DMC’s contemporary and totally new take on The Nutcracker, which was also developed in 2014 at The Knockdown Center in Queens in a production that featured Kaitlyn Gilliland and the legendary Valda Setterfield. Other residencies include the Upstream Residency at Kaatsbaan International Dance Center (2017), Broadway Dance Lab (2017), Barn Arts Collective (in 2015 & 2016) and LMCC’s SPARC program (2013).
