Hello potential music learner! :) My name is Katie and I can't wait to meet you. I have been teaching violin lessons since 2007 and have loved helping my students develop a passion for music and a stronger connection to the world around them. I graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2015 with a Masters of Music, and the University of Michigan in 2013 with a Bachelor of Music. My teaching experience includes private and group lessons, from beginner to advanced ages 5-adult. I have worked with New York City teaching organizations that included 92nd Street Y, Harmony Program, Opus 118 Harlem School of Music and Ethical Culture Fieldston School. I also maintain an active performance career playing on Broadway (Phantom of the Opera, Lion King, Some Like It Hot & Dear Evan Hansen), American Ballet Theatre, and American Symphony. My personality is engaging, warm, patient and open-minded, and my teaching style is flexible, creative, dedicated and fun. I look forward to helping you reach your goals! :)

Katie was exceptionally patient and encouraging with my five year old daughter. She was a major asset in teaching my daughter the basics of violin - including proper stance and note formation. I could not recommend her enough.

Katie was a wonderful violin teacher for my son (four years old at the time). Katie knew how to make learning music and the violin fun through games and various activities. She was attentive and patient, kind and encouraging. She worked with us to allow him to participate in the annual recital--she played a simple, beautiful song while he plucked an open string. She is reliable, accessible, and caring. Couldn't ask for a better, more qualified, and dynamic teacher than Katie to facilitate a positive musical experience a young child.

I greatly enjoyed my violin lessons with Katie. She improved my violin technique, encouraged me to tackle challenging solo pieces, and helped me prepare for youth orchestra auditions. She also guided me in producing video recordings for my college applications. On top of that, she is extremely patient and cheerful. Katie is the best!
