I have 15 years of teaching experience, a bachelor's degree in music education, and I am working on my master's degree in music education right now. I am a full-time music teacher, and I received the "Teacher of the Year" award in my school last year and was therefore nominated for Colorado Teacher of the Year. Teaching music is my absolute passion in life, and I truly love teaching students of all ages the joys of music. I have taught students from all over the world (I lived and taught overseas in Africa on a hospital ship for 3 years), and I tailor my teaching to match students of all learning abilities and styles.

I grew up in Colorado Springs actively involved in every musical activity possible! Band, choir, youth symphony, private lessons on 3 instruments. . . I couldn't get enough! It was easy for me to decide on a career path, since I was extremely passionate about music and about children. I attended the University of Northwestern--St. Paul in Minnesota, where I earned my Bachelor of Music Education. I am now working on my Master's of Music Education from Kent State University.
For three years, I taught K-4 general music and 4th/5th grade orchestra in Worthington, MN. I then moved across the globe to teach on the hospital ship the Africa Mercy with the organization Mercy Ships. On board the ship, I taught full-time Kindergarten as well as K-5 music classes. While I lived and taught on the ship, it traveled between the Canary Islands, the Republic of Congo, South Africa, and Madagascar. I absolutely loved being a part of this amazing organization and teaching the incredible students from all over the world.
After 3 years abroad, I moved back to Colorado Springs and I am thrilled to be finishing my third year teaching full-time elementary classroom music. I am very excited to be back in the beautiful place where I grew up, and to spend time with my wonderful family who live in Colorado Springs and Denver.
When I teach, I strive to create a warm, caring, and exciting environment that students look forward to attending. I truly enjoy igniting a love and appreciation for music in my students, and transferring my musical passion to them as much as possible! I hope to see every student's eyes light up with joy as they dive into the wonderful world of music with me.
I teach 12 classes of elementary music classes a day, plus a 90-student choir before school twice a week! I do many music performances throughout the year, and I also offer extracurricular music classes as well.
I taught full-time Kindergarten and elementary music for three years aboard a hospital ship in Africa. We sailed to the Canary Islands, Congo, South Africa, and Madagascar while I was onboard. An amazing experience!
I taught 4th and 5th grade orchestra along with K-4 general music in southwest Minnesota. It was a wonderful experience!
I taught private clarinet, piano, and violin lessons to students of all ages while I attended university.
I was certified in Minnesota before moving to CO.
